  • After your eggs have arrived it will help them to "rest" allowing them to settle in a cool/ normal room temperature for 12 hours if using an incubator or 6 hours if using a broody, this will increase your hatch rates

  • After the eggs have rested it is important to sit them as soon as possible, the fresher the eggs the better your hatch rate will be. We can not be responsible for eggs that are not sat within 48 hours of arrival

  • Ensure your incubator is running consistently for at least 48 hours before starting your eggs off. It is unwise to have fluctuations in the temperature and humidity when the eggs are in

  • We run our Brinsea incubators at 37.7o C and run with 29/30% humidity

  • If using a broody hen, ensure that she has been moved to a quite nest, away from the other chicken and is settled before placing your eggs for hatching under her. Do give her a couple of spare eggs to keep her broody during this process until the "real" eggs are placed

  • Don't expect excellent results first time, it may take a few attempts before you and your equipment are in tune. Broody hens know more than we do!

  • It is not recommended to hatch water fowl and chicken eggs in the same incubator at the same time.

  • If you have an automatic turning incubator, please remember to switch this facility off 48 hours before the eggs are due to hatch.

  • By keeping your birds in a large open space and giving them plenty of fresh grass will increase their health and fertility.

  • We will be only too happy to help and give advice for any eggs we supply please just ask.
